HIGHLIGHTS 2011

These are just a small sample of the highlights of 2011. It has to be said that the most enjoyable thing in the entertainment business is meeting old and enjoying new friendships.   It is simply not possible to include every event of 2011, but I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who selected Big John's Karaoke to host their event.  Your loyalty is very much appreciated.

2011 started off with a bang: 8 Weeks  in The Carlton Abbey Hotel, Athy with Stars in the Bars, where some tremendous talent was discovered. We were delighted to send two acts to the County Final.

February sees the usual Valentines Singles gigs in various venues where John matched unlikely couples and had them singing duets to gales of laughter from the crowd. 

All the while Big John was to be found weekly Thursday night in Biddy Early's Kilkenny where the usual suspects sing and dance every thursday night(this is to be recommended for a fun night out)

Then it was on to the Amber Springs Hotel in Gorey to join Joy and Mark Appleby for their after-wedding party celebration.

We travelled up country to the Glen of the Downs for Emma Foxes wedding celebration.

Paddys Weekend took off in lively fashion in Baltinglass with Big John hosting the outdoor street festival events and he also enjoyed meeting the other acts and being entertained by them.

Back to Carlow then to the Parish of Bennekerry where the Senior Citizens put Big John through his paces sending him back through his archives for the musical selections.  He thoroughly enjoyed the night.

All the mother's in Newbridge were out in force for Mother's Day.  Fun and laughter was the order of the day.  This was an all ladies event (no men allowed except Big John of course!).

The Easter Bunny found Big John hiding in Vaughan's Lounge, The Bush, where John is always entertained by the locals.  Then on to Borris, The Step House, Hotel, for a birthday bash.

May brought out the Hens in the Seven Oaks Hotel in Carlow for a fun Hen Night, Thanks to Anna Keegan, John is still laughing at the girls. 

The first of the communions were in Grace's in Kildare town, talented fearless, children taking to the stage to entertain.

Big John was a wolf in sheeps clothing in Ballinrobe  at the sheep sheering competition.  He has to be said that the singing in ballinrobe was slightly woolly. Thanks Paddy!!!

June brought out the racing punters and Swan Dowlings, Naas, was the venue for the After Races Party, were the boys from Wexford let rip!

Leinster Hills Golf Club in Carlow is the venue for many celebrations over the year, where John always has a great night.

Mick turned 50 in June and partied till late in Derby House Hotel, Kildare. A great night was had by all. (Testament to the fact that anything can happen at Big John's Karaoke, we are now awaiting Wedding Invitations!!)

After a well earned holiday in July Big John returned to work in Ballymount Rehab Centre, where they absolutely love to sing.

At the end of July John found himself on the set of Firm Factor 4 in Carrick-on-Suir where he put the Firm Factor Contestants through their paces vocally.  Firm Factor is a Good  company Productions TV programme which will be screen in March 2012.

July and September traditionally are taken up with the heats for the World Karaoke Championship for Kildare/Kilkenny.  The heats led to the World Karaoke Chamionship Final which was a spectacular three day event in Killarney.  John was working behind the scenes at the KWC Event providing entertainment in the local bars.  Thanks to AnneMarie and Liz and KWC Finland this was one of the most memorable World Karaoke Championships ever.

Staying in Kerry for the end of September, John entertained nightly at The Thatch, Lisellton, for Listowel Race Week. 

Halloween ooooooooooohhhh!!!! sees numerous fancy dress parties and the cultchie festival took place in Mohill, Co. Leitrim for the cultchie karaoke with big john.  A thoroughly enjoyable weekend for all the family. 

November was the start of the Suncroft S Factor with Suncroft GAA and the Hospice on the Curragh.  An amazing amount of money was  raised.  Thanks to all involved. 

The Wellie Queen Competition in Castlecomer in Shortalls was a great event where the girls turned out in style and their wellies, all hopefulls for to be crowned Wellie Queen, 2012.

December as usual is a very busy month for Big John with the usual round of corporate christmas parties etc.  (No Snow this year!!!!)
